Petition to Declare Public Sex Offender Registration in the United States a Violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
The Florida Action Committee, Inc. (FAC) is a 2,500+ member non-profit public safety organization that advocates for the rights of all persons. Included in our membership are people forced to register as sexual offenders in the United States.
Today, approximately one-million people in the United States are forced to register as “sex offenders”. It is a debilitating label that elicits a very negative social reaction and causes extreme harm to the person wearing the label and anyone associated with them.
In Florida, all persons forced to register are required to do so for life, and all are broadcast on a State sanctioned, publicly accessible and Google indexed website along with their name, picture, address, and other identifying information. They remain on the public registry even if they move out of the state, move out of the country, or die. Two-thirds of the people on Florida’s sex offender registry do not even live in Florida communities!

This petition was started a year ago. I fear this will just become another lifetime hit list that will last forever if you display your name.
Hasn’t this exact petition been around for a few years? I’m certain I signed it last year and the number of signatures always hovers around the same number. And I kept checking back on it – back when I was young and naive thinking this could be the case cracker 🙄 – and after months of circulation the number still was around 7,000. Or is this a do-over? Does anything ever happen with these petitions?
And so it goes. Trump and Musk have declared Homelessness is a lie, and propaganda. Only violent zombie drug addicts are homeless, have mused that the answer to homelessness is to buy inexpensive land, bring in doctors, psychiatrists and fence it in. Basically expand the civil commitment concept to include us, violent criminals, and anyone he deems ‘deranged’, ‘dangerous’ or homeless. That anyone who is homeless should face arrest.

Sure, let’s put ourselves in front of SCOTUS so that Trump and his gang of 5 can decide that we should be eliminated from society and make a fed law making all sex offenses lifetime registration. That’s what will happen. Honestly, I don’t see anything getting any better ( and likely worse). Better prepare yourselves for it. I just hope I can get offshore and hide before the cr*p hits the fan.
